About Traction
About
A small electronics shop that makes a handheld throttle and the box that lets it drive any layout, and intends to keep making both.
What we do
Traction makes control electronics for model railroads. Right now that is two things that belong together: the OCU-1 handheld throttle for WiThrottle, Z21 and LCC layouts, and the Throttle Bridge, which takes those same protocols — and MQTT — from any throttle and drives a LocoNet, DCC-EX, XpressNet, LCC or MQTT layout. We would rather do two things properly than have a catalogue.
How we build
Off-the-shelf modules where they exist, so a part can be replaced with a part rather than a board. Standard connectors. Firmware you can read, with release notes that list every change. The frustrating thing about this hobby is not that equipment fails, it is that it becomes unrepairable long before it wears out.
What we won't do
No account to create, no cloud service to depend on, and no phone-home. The OCU-1 talks to your command station over your own network and nothing else. If Traction disappeared tomorrow, every handset already sold would keep working exactly as it does today.
Where we are
Traction is based in the United States and ships worldwide. Orders and support both go to support@tractiontrains.com.
